The solar energy requires the semiconductors. Usually Silicon. And Silicon is used for an optical fiber cable, i.e. light transfer before electric energy.
Oil is popular energy transformer of Sun’s solar energy. Now the transformer and transfer are also a semiconductor.

Germanium, Indium, Gallium, etc. are popular for electric devices.

They are produced mainly in USA, China, Russia. I guess also in Australia and India.
